| There are many things I have to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, not to mention every day. I thought I would take the time to list a few of those things here.
- My family and the spiritual heritage on both sides of the family.
- My birth mother, for loving me enough to give me a stable home with great parents.
- My girlfriend and her family - they're great. More news later, if I get around to it.
- Living in Iowa - you get all kinds of weather, and may get all kinds of weather in a single day or a single week.
- Having at least one Iowa team doing well in football this year - GO PANTHERS!!!
- Good friends that are very willing to help when needed.
- Good weather so far this year.
- Living in a building that allows me to save some money - inexpensive mortgage payments are a perk.
- A great church. One that challenges me to live more for Christ, one that has a good testimony in the community, one that is reaching out to the community and to the world, one that preaches the Word and preaches it unapologetically.
- Friends that are willing to put up with my crazy schedule.
- The opportunity to tutor people in math and get paid for it.
- Salvation is a great gift. It's something I never want to take for granted. Fortunately, I have many reasons to be reminded of my salvation, its impact on me, and the impact my salvation has had on others around me.
- Medicine. Although I dislike having to take medicine, I'm thankful it is available when needed.
- Less than 360 days until the end of the political ads for 2008.
- Education. While our education system isn't always the best, it has done well for me.
- Sports. While I'm not necessarily all that great at sports, I enjoy the attempt.
I'm sure there is a lot more than what's listed here, but I'm already a few days late on this and it's getting late tonight...

| So Monday, I needed a "sanity day." Unfortunately, I have to create these days for myself. Between tutoring, working my full-time job, and volunteer activities (including church), I don't have much extra time to work with.
I now tutor four days a week, plus my 40-hour/week job, church, two volleyball leagues (one finishes this coming week), and spending time with my girlfriend. One of the textbooks I'm using for tutoring does not have an answer key, so I have to make sure I do the assignments I give from it ahead of time.
There's not much rest in store for me: the first night I could be home before 7 PM is Tuesday; otherwise, Sunday is my only "early" night possibility.
That's why I'm not here much...
| What are your thoughts on impeaching judges who act from the bench to create law?
What do you think should happen to judges who overstep the bounds put on them by the Constitution?
What recourse do we, the people, have when these judges go against the will of the people?
Can you give me an example of a case where judges have overstepped their bounds, creating law from the bench?
| Well, last night (Thursday night/Friday morning), we had a monsoon of sorts. Fortunately, this one was more short-lived than some people experience. We got between 5-7 inches of rain during this storm. There are only a few thunderstorms I can think of that have lasted that long, and even fewer that have been dumping that much rain for that long.
Thursday, we went to the Science Center of Iowa. It was the first time I had been there since they moved to their new building. We ate a late lunch at The Spaghetti Works, and then I had to go tutor.
On the radio this morning, they were saying that the snowplows were out, clearing water off the roads. Wow.
My parents are getting ready for a well-earned vacation. They'll be driving to Texas, to the Houston area. That will be fun for them, I'm sure.
Next month, I will be heading to Arkansas for UCA's Homecoming. It will be nice to see some friends again. It has been far too long.
| Lately, this has been a very short trip for me...
Between the responsibilities of my new job (promotion in June), more tutoring students (one in biology, two in math, and more reportedly to come), drama at the association board meeting, gearing up for preparations for next year's Relay For Life (yes, already), and trying to spend time with my girlfriend, I'm not around here much any more.
When I am, it's usually not to read or write on Xanga. While I will probably keep the site up, it probably won't be getting a lot of use in the near future. I will try to keep reading, though, but no promises there either...
